Regina Silveira (Porto Alegre, Brazil, 1939). Doctor in Arts degree at the University of São Paulo in 1984. Has been teaching since 1964 (Univ. Rio Grande do Sul, Puerto Rico University, FAAP-SP and University of São Paulo). Has participated in several biennials, like Bienal de São Paulo (1981, 1983, 1998), Bienal do Mercosul (2001, 2011), 6th Taipei Biennial (2006) Mediations in Poznan (2012) and Bienal Internacional de Curitiba (2013). Recent solo shows are: Lumen, (Palácio de Cristal, Museo Reina Sofía, Madrid, 2005), Sombra Luminosa (Museo Banco de la República, Bogotá, 2007) Tropel Reversed (Køge Art Museum, Denmark, 2009), Linha de Sombra (Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, RJ, 2009), Abyssal (Atlas Sztuki, Lodz, 2010), 1001 Dias e Outros Enigmas (Fundação Iberê Camargo, Porto Alegre, 2011), Limits (Rubin Center, University of Texas, El Paso, 2011), In Absentia Collection (Aldrich Museum, Connecticut, 2012) and El sueño de Mirra y otras constelaciones (Museo Amparo, Puebla, México, 2014). Has received grants as the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation (1990); the Pollock-Krasner Foundation (1993) and Fulbright Foundation (1994). Some recent awards are the Fundação Bunge Award in Arts (2009); the APCA Great Art Critics Award, given to Tramazul at MASP (2011), the ABCA Prize for the career( 2012) and the MASP Award (2013).
